Layout - Write Your Own Story

Hi scrappers..this week I wish to share with you a layout that I made using canvas. This time I thought of creating my own background. I love the raw grains of the canvas and chose not to hide them behind a primer. So bye-bye to gesso..I diluted Martha Stewart paints namely " Jonquil " and "Sea Lavender" and painted on the canvas.

Can you see the canvas's grains above ? Next, I stamped randomly using my fav Studio Calicos stamp.

I love the simplicity of this LO. This is as simple as I could scrap, lol !

Yes..I still need my blooms :))

A Layout Tutorial

I have a simple layout tutorial to share today. In a few easy steps you'll be creating a page for yourself. First gather your supply.

I'm using Kraft Cardstock as the base, Packaging from Prima and Tim Holtz to create layers, few strips of Pattern Papers, Doilies, Stamps from Hero Arts, Hero Hues, Stanz On Permanent Ink, 3 colors of mists, Buttons, Paper Clip, TH Tissue Tape, TH Metal Embellishment and MME Chipboard Stickers.

I start with the bottom right of the Kraft Cardstock by layering 2 different Pattern Papers and Tissue tape.

Next i misted the area lightly and stamp random image using Hero hues

For the top left corner of the cardstock, first layer is TH Packaging followed by Doilies, Pattern Papers, Prima Packaging and few more strips of Papers on the top.

Randomly add Tissue Tape, mists and stamp image of gears and bubble stamp.

Lastly adhere photo and embellishment as picture above.

Love Is In The Air - Valentine's Day Gift Idea

Love is in the air on Valentine’s Day! You are thinking of what to give your loved one? Well, why not for a change make something special for them.

So.. this week I will be sharing on a gift that you can consider to give the one you love on Valentine’s Day, which is just around the corner. It is a small book filled with your love messages/quotes. It can be in any size but for this project I have used a size of an ATC using a die from Sizzix.

First thing that you need to do is to select your favorite patterned paper. For this project I have used a paper from My Mind’s Eye collection. You then need to use a Zutter Bind It All tool to punch 4 holes on the left side of each page.

To add design on the paper I have used Pink Paislee’s Sweetness Press On.

Once that is done, you can start to decorate your book.

On each page you can write or stamp your messages/quotes about “Love” etc.

Love mail box on canvas

Hi and Happy Wednesday! Feels like only yesterday I blog here at Papier. Time flies... I went for shopping last weekend and oh my! it looks like the shops are well prepared for the upcoming Valentine's Day. To join in the heat, I have prepared a very simple project for the V-day. I'm sure some of you will be receiving Valentine cards or even love letters on the fourteenth, so, I have decided to work on something that you can use to store these precious love mementos that can also be displayed on your table or anywhere you like.

All you need is love and patience, and of course; with few papers and other materials to get this done. Basically, I have used canvas, which has been painted with Martha Stewart's satin paint for its foundation. I have used Bazzil Basics to create the 'mail-box' effect and glued to the canvas sheet. The rest, well, just add on shapes, flowers, ribbons etc to decorate your artwork as you wish.

I kinda like the vintage figure on this. She seems to be amongst the flowers and birds in a garden. Don't you feel like this on Valentine's day? Well, I hope you will have the sweetest Valentine's Day ever.

Deco - Queen Of The Kitchen

Hola crafters...

It's Tuesday..here's my take for this week..

I found this mini cupcake tin upon decluttering my kitchen cupboard ! I didn't even know I have it..lol. It shows how often I bake these days : p

The Melissa Frances Papers and chipboards from my DT kit seem perfect for this altered project. Here's how to make it. First punch the papers into circles. Glue them into the moulds of your choice. Cut a pattern paper 2 1/4 " x 10" and wrap around the tin. Next get your favourite MS puncher and punch the borders of a cardstock measuring 2" x 10". Stick it to the previous paper.

Now is the fun part....Add your favourite embellishments using a strong craft glue. Walla...very simple huh. Why not display this deco tin on your dining table while having afternoon tea with your buddies. I'm sure your master piece will spark endless fun conversation and laughter :)) Caution..you may be required to give a tutorial on how to make this while sipping tea..How cool is that !!

Owhh..this brings back memories of the wonderful afternoon teas that I used to have with my girlfriends..Each would bring a plate of warm brownies, scones, oozing chocolate cake... And I would decorate the dining table with my latest sewn table cloth or place mat and fresh flowers ! I know ..show off kan !! lol. The conversation was always about exchanging the hows..to raise our then only toddlers, recipes of the best cupcakes, roast chicken and even puree food for our babies etc. I miss all that...

Now I make up those fun time - in my workshop with my crafty students ! We had a blast last Saturday..what a cool bunch. For those who couldn't make it ...do call Papier to book another date okay..

"Happiness" - A Scrapbook Layout

Happy Thursday everyone!

I've just noticed that today’s date is 2/02/2012…nice!

It has been a busy week for me. But guess what??Another long weekend is just around the corner…Yabedaabedoo!!!!! More crafting and resting!

OK, this week I will be sharing another layout. I have worked on one of my favourite paper from Melissa Frances - Flora for this layout. The design and colour (combination of light pink and blue) of the paper is so so sweet.

To add colours to the layout, I have added hot air balloons design which I cut from another paper (My Mind's Eye Lime Twist Collection - Out of the Blue).I have also layered some patterned papers (from Martha Stewart & Pink Paislee) in the layout.

For embellishments, I used ribbons with buttons (Momoyo/ my DT kitfor January) and also flowers from Prima Flowers. The wording stickers (Happiness/ I Love You) are from Daiso.

Not to forget, Tim Holtz Ideology - Game Spinners.

Last but not least, photo of my nephews and nieces..They have been my favourite subject in many of my crafting project. Thank you guys...you bring "HAPPINESS" into my life.

Day-to-day pocket mini album - with a quick tutorial!

Happy Wednesday everyone! My..my..aren't we all looking forward to another long weekend, yes? Wouldn't it be great if we have this like...every other month? Hehe....

This month of February, I would like to kick start the DT post with a simple tutorial for a 'Day-to-day pocket mini album'. Yeah...quite a mouthful title to it but believe me; it is such a simple craft project to do. I was actually inspired by the patterened paper which comes with the Feb DT kit, which is the main pp I have used here in this project. Scroll to the bottom of this post on how to construct one.

This pocket mini album has a slot on each page with a special tag inserted in each. You can write daily reminders or your favourite daily quotes or even things to accomplish each day for the rest of the week! And the best thing is, you can just slip it in your handbags and you are ready to go!

See the tag below, which is for the Sunday slot.

A bit on how-to do this pocket mini album:

1) Cut out a piece of 9 x 3" of pp and fold in the middle. You will get now a 4.5 x 3" folded piece.
2) Cut out a piece of 4 x 1" pp. Fold it on the shorter side into half. This will become a 4 x 0.5" folded piece.
3) Cut out a piece of 1x1.5" pp. Fold it on the shorter side into half. This will become a 1.5 x 0.5" folded piece.

Attach the no.2 piece to the bottom of the pp no.1 done earlier. Secure it with glue. Do the same with no.2 onto the side of pp no.1 and secure with glue. Use a punch to poke 2 holes on the side of pp. no 1.

Now you can start putting in your embellies as you like! And don't forget to do your 'days' tab and stick it onto the inner top side of the slots! Lastly, add your tags to be inserted into each daily slots!

Layout - A Small Wonder

Hellooo scrappers, it's my turn today to share with you a piece of LO that I whipped using the last bits of my January DT kit. Can't wait to share with you what I created with my February kit :0

Notice the little fingers and the little chick? This cute photo was taken during our last holiday trip to Avillion. The resort comes complete with a petting zoo. How cool is that ! My kids went goo goo gaa gaa over it and they were just so funny! That's how city folks react to a whole lot of pets to cuddle and love at one time. LOL

OMG just realised ..the chick looks like its about to popped out from the LO..love that.

My first layer of the layout is my favourite pp by Webster's Pages that is the Yacht Club - Sandy Shore. Then the burlap and an envelope pocket by Amy Tangerine. Hues of earth tones are used to pickup the gorgeous colour of the chick. Not forgetting the peacock feather ( I must clarify that I didn't pluck right from the peacock at the petting zoo okay). I just found out that, like my 2 year old niece..I'm scared of peacocks! They were just always snobbish and angry all the time :( Whylah??

Happy Monday scrappers! I'm sure everyone had a great holiday celebrating Chinese New Year and visiting love ones. I had a good one myself except that i came home not feeling well. Must be too much sun & sea. I'm glad however that I've managed to get few projects done for Papier and today sharing with you my Altered Canvas Back.

The Canvas size is the same as A4 paper and the backing is a deep hollow almost like a shadow box, it was a trend back in 2011 to altered the back of a canvas and shy to say i was a very late follower! lol. So anyway i got a courage to do one recently. The frame was first painted with gesso and while wet i sprinkle some distress embossing powder from Tim Holtz. Dry with heat gun and later i add some glimmer glam paint and spray mists from tattered angel's. The final treatment is to add Mod Podge to seal the colors and medium.

Embellishment include die cuts from Tim Holtz, Stainless steel Pie Mold, Prima Flowers, Buttons, Blings, Lace, Seam Ribbon, Pearls, Twine, Ribbons, Cotton Gauze, TH Tissue Tape and Pattern Papers.

Slider Card - 8 Easy Steps

Slider Card

This week I will be sharing with you on how to make a Slider Card.Its simple, fun and it takes only eight (8) easy steps to complete a slider card.

Step 1: Using the Spellbinders Nestabilities dies, cut three (3) identical label shapes. Next cut one (1) more label shape using the next smallest die with the paper that you’d like to decorate your front card.

Note: For this project I used the Spellbinders Nestabilities – Lacey Circles.

Step 2: Stick the next smallest label to one (1) of the larger label.

Step 3: Take one (1) label shape and cut off (approximately 6mm) from the top and bottom (or enough to square off the edge).

Step 4: Mark four (4) brad holes. Stack all three large labels together and poke neat holes through all three (3) labels.

Step 5: Cut two (2) identical card pieces for the “pulls” to an appropriate size (you can measure the distance between the centre brad holes for the size).

Step 6: Cut a strip of transparent plastic bag, slightly longer than the “pulls”. Wrap loosely around a trimmed label (the one in Step 3). Use a double sided tape to close the plastic around the label.

Step 7: Stick the “pull” pieces to the plastic with decorated sides facing up (Important: Make sure the “pull” pieces stick to the plastic not the card).

Step 8: With some brads put all three (3) pieces of large labels together. Your SLIDER CARD is now ready to be decorated.

Cards and a Tag

Happy Wednesday everyone! Hope you had a good rest over the long extended weekend. Me? Well, I tried a new recipe and it turned out ok. Did a few craft works, reading, etc and before you know it, gosh! it's already Wednesday!! Time flies ...

Anyway, here are my simple cards and a tag for the last week of January (for me). A bit on the creations below.

Tag: Make Every Moment Count.

I love working with Ranger alcohol inks. So here, I have incorporated a stamped sentiment on the pp and work on the alcohol inks onto the frosted glass. You can't see much of the ink details here, though. The pp, lace, stickers, ribbon 'buckle', frame chippie are all from my DT kit for this month.

And finally, two simple cards from me using pp ( Glitz & Basic Grey), lace, chipboard sticker and brad from my DT kit. I've never used a tulle before on my cards, but it certainly is an interesting element to work with.

The clock and sentiment stamp on the card below are from Hero Arts, which is sold at Papier. And that!, happens to be the last piece of lace from my DT kit. Lol!

Hey ! I would like to wish all my Chinese friends Gong Xi Fa Chai. I'm sure everyone is enjoying every seconds of the long holiday. As for me..school holidays mean a lot of sleep-ins, less cooking and more crafting yay!! This week , I decided to make a bunch of tags that can upstyle practically any bag, tote or jounal.

This tag is embellished with some doilies and fabric petals. I planned to do a tutorial on how to make these fabric flowers. However I need to get a tripod 1st.. I think. So stay tuned okay.

Hey try inserting them in a key chain and attach to your handbag. Not bad eh..

I'd like to share a layout using white cardstock, Graphic45 pattern paper, Handmade flower, Brads, Prima flower, Die cut doilies and leaf. The background is misted using tattered angel mists and stamp with Bubble wrap and Distress Ink. Prima packaging was used behind the photo to add layers.

Flower Story - Framed Box

Happy Thursday everyone...I bet everyone can't wait for the long weekend. Don't worry, we have 1 more day to go...Yeehaa!!! :) and for those who are celebrating Chinese New Year...I wish you happiness, good fortune and prosperity in the New Year. Gong Xi Fa Cai.

For this week's project, I have worked on a framed box project using Tim Holtz Ideology Configurations 6.75" x 8.75". I removed the internal boxes and only took the cover and the removeable clear window for this project.

My favourite part for this project when I was wrapping the frame using Tim Holtz Ideology Tape Tissue. It was so much fun and easy to use - its now available at the store..

Three pieces of paper used for this projects. I have selected a papper from Lost and Found Collection - Favorite Dance for the background of the frame (luv the polka dot)..and for the yellow flowers: I used Pink Paislee Collection - Picture Perfect (from my DT kit this month) and at the corner I layered a paper from Webster's Pages Collection - Winter Fairy Tales (die cut).

For embellishment, I used some flowers from Prima Flowers, ribbons, lace, knob, etc. Something special for this project is you notice, I have added a small car from Hot Wheels.

Hola! Happy Wednesday everyone! This time I'm going to give a simple tutorial on how-to make a waterfall card. It's really not that difficult to make and the best thing is you can always alter it the way you like in the process of making it. It all depends on how you imagine the final result would be. I'm going to explain the process in the simplest way I can. I'm going to use unit in inches here.

1. First thing, you will need a sturdy card as the base for the waterfall card. Here, I have used Bazzil Basics, of which I have cut about 4.5 x 6" in size.
2. Now we need to prepare the 'flip-strip'. I called this the flip-strip because this is the mechanism to flip the waterfall card later. The size of the flip strip I have used here is about 10x1" (length x width).
On the flip strip, we need to do some scoring on equally interval places on it to create as placement for the waterfall card later. Firstly, fold the flip strip in two so that you will have a 6" length on one side and a 4" length on another.On the shorter side of the flip-strip, we will work on the scoring now.

We need to score on 4 places on the shorter strip with each being 1" from one another. The topmost (scored line 1) of the score will be the one that you have scored earlier to create the 6" and 4" length on the strip. Now, just add three more downwards at 1" interval as explained before.
Now that you worked on mostly what is required for the flip-strip, let's put it aside for a while.
3. Now, we want to work on what I called the 'strip-base'. Basically, it is just a strip of paper (preferably as sturdy as the base card), which you need to paste lower mid-length of the base card that we worked on earlier to create a foundation for the flip-strip to work.
Get anything from your scrap and cut out about 1x4.5". Just glue on the ends of this strip-base to your base card. Just on both of the ends and not the whole thing. The middle portion of it has to be free since this will create a path for the flip-strip to slide in and out.
4. Now take your flip-strip and lay it on the base card with the shorter one facing up. You will need now to secure the end of the shorter length to the strip-base. Secure it with glue or just a scotch tape. It should not move when you are pulling the flip-strip in and out later.
Now, you can put on a nice cover for the base card to hide the strip-base and all the Scotch tape. You can use similar paper like the one for the card base or choose another to your liking. Cut out about 2.5x4.5" out of the paper. The width of this cover should be the same as the card base and the height should be reasonably good in order for the waterfall card to be pulled inwards later. I have use height of about 2.5" in this example. Again, just secure it on the ends only, to the base card.

5. Now, test your flip-strip. If its OK, let's try now placing the waterfall cards. We need to create 4 waterfall cards of about these sizes:

1st page: 3x4"

2nd page: 3x4.5"

3rd page: 3x5"

4th page: 3x5.5"

Once you have prepared the waterfall cards, start fixing it on the flip-strip. Start with the smallest one first and fix it to the lowest scored end of the flip-strip. Work your way up to the biggest card being on top. Now, you can already see the waterfall-like pattern on the card. Try pulling the flip-strip i.e. the longest end down. See how the cards start to flip outwards when you pull and flip inwards when you push in the flip-strip. You're almost done. What left to do now, is the card stand; as per my example as shown.

(p/s: please excuse the clutter on my working desk hehe. The more I try to keep it clean, the messier it becomes. Funny, eh? Can anybody testify to this? Lol! )

6. For the card stand, all you need is something from your scraps or choose any coordinating colours of pp to your liking. In my example here, I have used a piece of paper from my scrap of about 8x4.5". The width shall correspond with that of the base card's. Score at 0.5" and 1.5" on one end only. Fix the first scored line to the bottom of card base and the other it's top. It creates a stand for your waterfall card. Of course, it's up to you to use your imagination to create this. (somehow, writing on card stand is the hardest part for me to do. Lol! But I guess you'd probably know what I'm trying to say anyway, yes?)

So, there you go folks! I do hope this tutorial is easy enough for you to create one on your own.

Layout - Happy Together

Twiddly..twiddly..twiddly..dee.. I miss whipping up a layout lol . True enough,, I guess I was in a
" making boxes " phase that lasted many weeks somehow . Really enjoyed making and exploring what if... Here's a simple layout that I made last weekend.

Simple but my colour..I'm back! I added sewing machine stitching along the borders using calico fabric. A fabric patch was also sewn on the top left corner of my LO. I even stich the trim.. was lazy to glue it! Can you imagine the mess trying to glue the fibre. So next time when you're dealing with strips of fibre..try stiching :0

A close-up..I purposely sew in a crooked path ( tried very hard ). This is where I can let loose my sewing :)) It becomes art..the more crooked..the more artsy! Lol

Adrenaline Rush - Scrapbook Layout

Hi Everyone,

This week I would like to share a layout, my first layout in 2012 - Adrenaline Rush. I'm sure each of us has experienced any form of adrenaline rush before. Here is mine - The Adrenaline Rush of Motorcycle Riding. Nothing compare to the adrenaline rush you get from riding a motorcycle. It is the fear that creates the excitement and anxiety. Sometimes it's good to shake up your routine and challenge the adventure within..

Ok, enough with the adrenaline rush...let's talk on the layout. For this week's layout I used 2 (two) pieces of paper from Webster's Pages - Your Life and from Tim Holtz Kraft Core - Nostalgic Collection.I have also added jeans material in the layout.

Most of the embellishment in this layout is from Tim Holtz Ideology collection (Locket Keys/ Ornate Plates/Ruler Ribbon/ Corner/Paper Stash) and from 7 Gypsies' Metal Gear. Besides that I also used some materials which I bought from hardware shop - screw eyes, metal chain and safety pins.

I used the Sizzix 3D Flower die cut to make the flower using jeans material and added 1 (one) red flower from Prima Flowers.

Simple and straightforward technique for this week...

Hola! Happy Wednesday everyone! I'm surviving my weekdays at work and just can't wait for the weekend. Don't we all? Lol! Time flies so fast that I only realize it yesterday that it is my turn to post!

I just call it an accordion card. It's actually made from a single 12x12 inches patterned paper of which I have cut it into half. I have scored on 3 interval of equal spaces on both and overlap both ends of each to create the length.
It's a fun way to give as a gift to your friends or loved ones and its pretty easy to display since it's able to stand on its own too. If you wish to keep it away, you can also fold and secure it with the ribbon lace, which is tucked around the back of the card. Quite simple, yes?

Deco ( Book Box ) - Memory

I fell in love with Kaisercraft's papers the moment I set my eyes on them. They are just perfect for the project I had in mind. Rustic vintage is the style ..So.. the design process began..I started with designing a simple shadow box with a "book cover". Can you tell.. I am still struggling of how best to name this project lol.

Ta da! This is what the inside looks like. There is endless possibilities of what you can hide/keep inside this "book".

Like what you see? This project is intended for a workshop. In class, you will be learn to make this box from scratch, fear not, as I will guide you step-by-step. We will also learn how to make accessories like pendants and a bit of beading. Learn about chip board cutting,fussy cut, stamping, distressing and layering.Owh.. not forgetting the cute photo dice at the bottom shelf..I'll teach you how to make that too. Another manic monday? Oh yes! Both of my kids is in school this year and i'm sure you could imagine the chaos of getting a 9 and 4 yrs old ready! Two hands is definitely not enough to handle the rush! I'm getting the hang of it and keep on wishing my maid would be here soon. Yes hopefully soon!

Today i'd like to share a layout that i did this morning! lol. The first week of school is taking a toll on me so i've actually couldn't find time to scrap till the very last minute. Nevertheless i hope it turns out okay! hahaha.

A bit of scrappy info, the pattern papers is from Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante Collection and the layers is doilies, papers with stamps image is from a shop called material, 7G Metal Gear embellishment, Prima flower, the title is from Webster Pages Journalling Card and here's the fun part. Can u spot the butterfly image tissue tape? It's my current fav's from Tim Holtz. and the awesome color of distress ink? That one is from Tim Holtz Autumn 2011 Seasonal Series! Gorgeous colors! The two fav's that i mention above is available at Papier!!! Yes..hurry peeps!

I've got to run now, gonna fetch my lil munchkin from kindy, she was really reluctant to go to school this morning! sigh..another mommy's duty calling. See you ladies around! :)))

FabScraps Teapot Mini Album

Happy New Year 2012!!

I was given my first DT Kit two (2) weeks ago and decided to use it for a mini album project. My first project this month for Papier is a Teapot Mini Album by FabScraps, which I bought from Papier a couple of months back. I have chosen two (2) colors from Martha Stewart Crafts (Antique Silk & Summer Haze) to paint the background of the mini album and layered with Rock Candy Crackle Paint to create the crackle effect on the surface.

Live Free - a scrapbook layout

Hello everyone! Happy Wednesday and it's my turn to post a simple crafting project and hopefully it will be an inspiration to all of you out there. Its a scrapbook layout and this time, I want to show how you can effectively make use of the 'wrong-side' of the patterned paper. Never knew why they called it the 'wrong-side' when there's no right or wrong in crafting; or is there?! Lol!

This is from my first DT kit for January and I love every bit of it. The moment I saw the paper, I knew that I must use the 'wrong-side' cos' I have just the right photo to go with it! The edge of the paper was distressed with Ranger paper distresser and later applied with a distress ink to get that burnt look. The bottom of the paper was also distressed with Ranger's distress ink - evergreen bough.

I have used a corrugated foam paper and placed the photo on it. For the final touch to the layout, I have added in the leather string and created a 'lassoed' end just right on the horse's head. I had fun doing this! Just let your imaginations run wild! Yeeeehaaa...!

Ok, better stop before I get too much carried away! Lol! Below are few close-ups of the layout.

Happy Happy New Year to all!

Its 2012!!! This year I decided to stay away from resolutions as somehow they never work for me, or they always end up forgotten (err, for me anyway), so instead I tell myself I will set goals, simple, easy to achieve goals, and take baby steps each day to achieve these. It could be daily goals, weekly goals, or monthly goals etc and then I can look back by end of 2012 and happily say that I HAVE done it!!

Well, here's my first goal for 2012, more crafting!! Haha! Really! I absolutely would love to be able to have more pages added to my scrapbook albums and OTP collections. So for a start, I will get organised, plan and then ACTION! So, hopefully in the coming months, I will also be able to post more of my creations, and join in the crowdlar...

At Papier, we would like to welcome our new DT team, with Liza, Syafinaz & Aznida to be led by our RD, Amelia (AK). With some fresh new faces, & fresh new ideas, we're hoping it will keep you inspired. Hi everyone,

First of all, I’m proud and honored to be part of Papier’s DT. It is such a great pleasure. Thanks Macy fo the opportunity!!

Since this is my first post in the blog as DT, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share my passion in scrapbooking/crafting. My name is Shafinaz and you can call me Inaz. I’m from Klang and currently attached to a Company as HR practitioner. When I’m not at work I will be doing what I enjoyed most – scrapbooking/crafting.

It’s all started a year ago and I became totally addicted to it. It makes my memories alive and I get to be creative and innovative. And above all, I get many new friends who have the same passion as I am. As a new comer to scrapbooking/crafting, I get most of my ideas and inspiration from magazines, blogs, online forum, manufacturer’s websites and many more. Not forgetting my nephews and nieces who have always been my inspiration and favorite scrapping subject.

Finding your personal passion in life is an all important aspect of happiness

My name is Aznida M Razali and I live in KL. I started to be serious in scrapbooking in 2006 the year I gave birth to my son. I started doing craft works since schooling days where I love to do cards, sketching (portraits), glass paintings and of course 'old style scrapping'. Those days my scrapbooks were basically cut and paste of my favourite artistes or quotes or anything fancy and beautiful to my eyes. I don't really have a specific style in crafting. More like queen of random for me though I feel that I always have the tendency to search for grunge and vintage stuffs. The tools and techniques in scrapbooking as well as the abundance of materials offers endless ways of experimenting and exploring.

I have a full time job with a local engineering consultant in PJ. Crafting is definitely an opposite of what I do at work and that is what thrilled me the most! There is no right or wrong about it and it all depends on your interpretation. I like that! I also love photography and it is a way for me to progress in my scrapbooking. I wouldn't classify myself as talented in art but my reason for crafting is to share with others this passion of mine apart from cherishing my precious memories so that when I am old, I would be able to look back and reminisce these memories in style.

Match Box - ATC keeper

I was staring at a few clothing tags/labels that are just too cute to be ignored. I have a tin full of them. Simply could'nt let them go..becoz of my love for upcycling. So..here's a match box with a vintage looking tag that I got from DH's shirt. Hope I don't bore you with another ATC keeper he..he

This match box will definitely be filled with more ATCs for my next swap :))

Just in a few more days we'll be entering the new year..my noodles right now are filled with exciting ideas on projects that I would love to make next year :)) Owh I even plan to give some tutes..so stay tuned okay. Happy New Year everyone..smooches :))

Card-Love Me Do

Hello everyone, i'm sure most of us is still on holiday mood. I'm going on a road trip with my little family today and thank god for auto post! lol. I'd like to share a card made using my Dec Kit.

The base is a small circle from a recycle duct tape. I cover it up with pattern papers and cut out image from the rest of the papers. To pop the fussy cut image i use 3D dots. A very simple and easy card to assemble. Hope you're inspired to try your own version.

Hello all..

Please bear with me..for some reason I could'nt crop my photo ..yikes! Still figuring out why my 'buddy' turn away from me ..lol. This time I used most of my papers from "State of The Heart" kit by My Mind's Eye. Pretty straight forward technique used here.

Simple backdrops are created by just tearing of few papers and layering them for that 3D effect.

Have you got the New Arrivals from Hero Arts? I heart this "Watch Gear" cling stamps. First I stamped on the background. Next I stamped on another of my favourite paper and fussy cut the gear. Last..using 3D dots I stick the fussy cut on top of the stamped background. Tada..

Hi scrapper, I'm sure most of you are done with your Christmas and year end shopping. Every time i step into The Curve i cant help to feel extra joy and merry! With an awesome deco and the many splendid goodies on sale who could resist not to jump in the wagon? lol. Yes more spending but i believe it's all for a good cause.

One of the things that everyone would love to received is a calendar! Instead of buying one why not make one for your friends and family. Using my Dec dt kit from MME 'Love Me Do' i created this fun banner. The calendar was printed on a plain cardstock and matted on a kraft cardstock. I also love Tim Holtz Alteration Rosette die. Making paper flowers is so much easier with a die cut!

So go ahead and start planning for 2012 calendar. Just an idea, you could also use a tag die for a simple 12 month calendar. Check out our die cut machine and dies that's available in store. Pssttt just to let you on a secret...Sizzix die cut machine is arriving soon! We're waiting anxiously for the shipment! Look out for the updates soon..:)

Today I would like to share with you a little project that I made using combination of all my favourite manufacturers pp..They are "Steampunk Debutante-Fantasy Floral " by Graphic 45, "Bella Donna " by Prima Marketing and Websters Pages' " Garden Gala - Journalling cards ". Owh my..I had a blast designing and arranging all the details. Before all these fun took place..I prepared the base / cover for the accordian..using mixed media. I also applied Martha Stewart's New Range - Pearl Acrylic Craft Paint. Lovin every bit of the new range.

As you know..we had a Kids Holiday Workshop over at Papier last Friday..and let me tell you I had the much needed adrenalin rush and totally replenish my mojo after that. LOL. I notice everytime I teach..I get this sort of mojo boost !! and I'm embracing and loving every bit of it..It's true ..when you share ..you GET MORE.

Hello scrappers, happy Monday. I'm back to share more projects with you girls. This week I've created a layout using my Dec kit. Instead of the usual, I've decided to play with a Paper kit that's available in store. Some of you might have seen a kit before and perhaps thought it would limit your creativeness. Rest assured it wont! lol. I'm about to show you this coming weeks with more crafty projects coming your way.

For this layout i used a white cardstock for the base and built my page by layering few pieces of pattern papers. I misted the background using sequin waste as masks and Tattered Angel spray mists. The paper flowers is created using a 1' circle punch. Let me know if you're interested to know how i did that, i'll post a tutorial should there be demand. Lastly i journal a short story along the edges of the large square paper.

Hero Arts Latest Arrival!!!!

Be still my heart as i almost fainted looking at Hero Arts latest arrival in store today!!! I wanted to have them all for myself and yes create more holes in my wallet! lol. Fret not, still plenty more for you to grab but i have to warn you..HURRY!!!!

ATC ( Artist Trading Cards )

Happy tUeSdAy everyone..

For this week, I would like to share few of the ATCs that I made incorporating papers from my DT kit. You might be wondering where the papers are..ha haaah. You will only find them on the titles of the ATC. So its just a small fussy cut huh..of MME's State of The Heart. Don't fret because I'm in the midst of preparing something..hopefully BIG next week..stay tuned.

The techniques used are mainly applying texture paste for the first layer and then rubbing chalk paints. I like how the colours blend and dance on the craft paper.

The ATCs are then given a coat of Mod Podge as sealer. If you love paints like I do...check out the new paint sets and cool tools by Martha Stewart that just arrived. Thanks Martha for making my painting journey a bLiSs :))

Ho ho ho...

Pardon for the slight delay in posting. Here's some quick greetings I made for some special someone(s). Using the latest MME Lost & Found 2 papers & diecuts, Prima flowers and MM embellies from my stash, these were easy to work with and gave me that sparkling effect I so love for Christmas. I borrowed the pop up idea from Jaz's class before and here's my simple card series.

ok, these lil cards turned up slightly bulky so I gave them away in a nice lil box with a little goodie. Pardon my rusty fingers but I had much fun making these. I hope you will too, as this is the season for giving and what is more special than giving away something handmade, precious from the heart!

Money Holder and December Classes With Liza Yahya

Hey all,

Take a look at the Money holder that I made using a combination of the Webster's pages Christmas Come On In and My Minds Eye Lost and Found papers. I made a simple envelope with the MME paper.

I chose my favourite door and cut out the architrave as well as the door leaf ( leave left side uncut ) . Scored the left side of the door and left the door open to show "to" and "from" tag.

The center stage flower is made by crinkling a red organza and gluing it at the back of the polka dot flower.

And owh.. please don't forget to enroll for December's Mini Album Class - " A True Story ". It's a fun album using Pink Paislee's Daily Junque papers. Learn about layerings and making pockets and special folds and case binding. " True Story " Workshop 1 will take place on Thursday 1st December at 4:00 pm. That's this Thursday..come join the fun :))))

Another workshop that I have specially prepared for kids during this holiday is an accordian mini album inspired by Jaz Lee canopies :) - " Best Buds ". Hurry moms..enroll your children in this workshop and hit the spa or get a hairdo after sending them :))) The 1st Class for "Best Buds " starts Friday 9th December 11:00 am - 2:00 pm. If you can't make it on this date, do contact Papier for another time okay.

Mini Tag Album

Currently i am all about tags and pockets. Anything and everything i created recently will incorporate this two elements. With the remaining papers from Webster Pages i created this Mini Tag Album. The size is 4'x4' and using my Sizzix Tag dies i cut out my photos and tags.

The pockets is easy to create, basically i just glue the side and bottom part of the borders. I find embellishing a small mini to be the fun part because it doesn't take a lot. A stickers, buttons and lace is all i need. Those Melissa Frances tags is too gorgeous to ignore! lol.

This week is Wah's final week with Papier. Shoot Wah or Wah as you are familiar with has been with us for the last 2 years and you have seen and enjoyed her many artistic talents from in-store displays to the beautifully wrapped RAKs, prizes including handmade cards & OTP projects she has made for us. However, due to family commitments, Wah will be returning to a regular hour career that enables her to spend more time with her beloved son & family.

We would like to take this opportunity to say farewell and thank you for all that she has done for us-for all her beautiful contributions, friendship she has built with our team, not forgetting our customers and wish her the very best in her future undertakings.

At the same time, we hope that you will continue to support us, throughout our new team. Hellooo friends,

It's my turn today to inspire you..yes! It's very lacy and lacy. The sweet pink paper by Melissa Frances goes in harmony with my photo. I punched it using my favourite MS punch and placed the frame on top.

I applied primer on the IKEA frame. To make it more fun..I simply placed some lace from my stash and applied gesso again..I just love the effects.

Some of the laces and the cute doll are gifts from friends. Thank you y'all..I really treasure them. That's why they are on this LO.

Another Monday is here. The school holiday officially starts in Malaysia and oohhhh i'm one happy mom! The alarm clock stays off until 8.30!!! Wow it is such a blessing to get the extra hours of sleep. lol. Without futher delay here's my layout for this week.

Again using Webster Pages pattern papers i created layers and fussy cut the image. Misted the background with Tattered Angel Mists and add Prima Blooms, Dusty Attic Chipboard, Doilies, Old Music Sheet, Buttons and Stickers. For a closer look this layout is displayed at Papier Store.

Thank You Card and Altered Box Workshop Pics

Hi all,.
My November DT kit is full of surprises..wink wink of what to come, bright and cheerful as can be : ) I've decided to start a small project first..kinda save the best for last.

My SLICE machine came in handy..I used "Bravissimo" design card to cut the bazzill card and paper. Next I punched the Melissa Frances paper using my favourite Martha Stewart puncher. I cut out small pieces of corrugated board to layer all of my embellies. They work wonders! The last layering is my Melissa Frances Tag - "Aunt Bea", Walla..

Owh I would like to share some joy that I had, teaching Altered Box Workshop last Saturday. What a blast!! Our hands got really dirty with gesso and texture paste. My left hand looked like Troll's as a result of Tattered Angels spray mist and I even spotted some gesso on my cheeks ! Here are some photos..of my brave and talented students in action. We had a light moment when Elaine had to pickup an urgent call, first with her earlobe on the phone which was on the table ..then on speaker phone.. since all of her ten fingers had gesso on them... LOL

Shirley, Ruby and Elaine .." I know how to do this..easy peasy lemon squeasy"

Aini : " I think this alpha suits betta.."
Yuz : " Oooh yes, done that , check. Nice eh ! "

Look at the completed boxes by my students Aini, Elaine, Ruby, Shirley and Yuz. They are just awesome! I'm a proud duck : )

I am sooo happy that they have completed the boxes in time and with style !

I'm sure there's plenty of Webster Pages fans out there! For my Nov Dt kit i've decided to play up my feminine side and pack on the blooms. Yes i find that when working with WP there is nothing minimalist about my layout. Layering is a must and I can't help but to sneak in a bit of tulle, ribbons and gems. Stamping on transparencies is also my all time fav's. I'm sure you can spot the butterfly! lol.

Wall Deco by AK

Happy monday crafter's. It's a brand new week and more postings and inspiration from the design team and guest artist. Let me start this week posting with altered wall deco. I have been so busy for the past week till i cant find time to collect my Dt kit. So i use up my stash and left overs for this project.

A simple tutorial on how i did the black record for the deco. I bought the old record at Amcorp mall with fellow crafter Yuz Yusof. It's been in my collection for a while now and finally i decided to do something with it rather than left it collecting dust at my craft corner.

First step is to apply gesso, 3 layers to be exact.

To speed up the drying process i used heat gun.

Next i misted using Tattered Angel mists.

Finally i applied Distress Crackle in Rock Candy.

Embellish.

I'm sure you can spot an old film, pencil, string, printed bingo card, doilies, button, Prima flowers, stamp butterfly, pearl strand, ribbon, mini cork and spool.

I think it's a good way to clear my stash and i'm one happy crafter! I can see more possibilities of clearing items on my desk. Just pile them up in an altered project! Voila!!!

Best part is the kit has everything, all you need is add photos, the foam adhesives and paint. Ask for the kit at Papier. If you'd like to have someone work the kit out with you, just schedule for an in-studio session*.

I'm so excited to share this news! For the next 9 weeks, we will be featuring 20 project ideas from various Guest Artists to celebrate the upcoming festivities and to welcome the year 2012!

The features are randomly planned and in no particular preference or order, however we have requested for each Guest Artist to showcase their current favorites. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you whom have so kindly accepted my invitation to post your creations on our blog and to share with our readers, your personal inspirations and ideas to end the year with a creative splendor. Owhh I'm still smiling till today ...had too much fun on last Saturday's Mad Hatter Member's Day. I really need to work out on my pose..(looking at the pics taken). Gotto learn from my buddy AK! It was nice to meet new friends and sharing some ideas and tips..Congratulations to those that won the contests and lucky draw. You guys really dress up to the nines ( a big applause!! ). Not forgetting.. Congrats to Amelia for the appoinment of RD , you rock! Overflow of fun means more mojo...I have created this altered box fresh from my studio. Here are some pics.

You will be learning some cool techniques like lace stencilling, texture paste and stamping. A warning..you will get dirty..so come with an apron and lotsa wet wipes okay. Happy November & RD Appointment

Hello again,

Here's Hello to November! Oh boy! Oh boy! Its already the end of 2011. I have an exciting news to share, that is we have appointed Amelia Khalik, popularly known as AK, as our Resident Designer as of today!

I'm doing the cartwheels right now as we have lots planned ahead and much to be discussed about forward workshops & classes, in-store events including plans to recruit more DTs. Yes!! We're also needing more DTs and instructors but more will be revealed as AK will be posting regards to workshops & studio related matters in the coming months.

For those of us who know and love Amelia already, let's welcome her on board the Papier team officially. Amelia has been our DT since 2010, and has created many popular classes in particular her mini album workshops, not forgetting her weekly DT posts on this blog. She is a super-efficient scrapper with many wonderful ideas & almost always inspired (to me anyway) anytime & anywhere. Therefore, it is with great pleasure that we welcome Amelia to our team.

Meanwhile, we look forward to a great team with AK on board and aspire to bring you more fun & exciting workshops & in-store events in the coming months!

Mad Hatter Tea Party 2011

Hello crafters!

Thank you all for making PCM Day 2011 another success story. It was really great to see all of you at our Mad Hatter Tea Party last Saturday. Thank you also for dressing up to the occasion, for a minute there I thought we were really in Wonderland with Alice. Well, there was indeed an 'Alice' for the day, our boisterous Rowena who took away the Grand Lucky Draw Prize worth more than RM650!

And then, there was 'Bunny' who hopped happily through our games and our Best Dressed Winner, Ms Farah Inaz and of course so many more of you who went to lengths to dress up for the party. Oops! Did someone leave a bunny tail behind? (Just kidding)

We, at Papier had a wonderful time, and we hope you did too. The first contest we had, the 15 mins Challenge was awesome. It amazes me, that in that very short time, given very little or in actual fact, limited supplies, such wonderful creations could be done. Hats off to all of you who participated. Congratulations to the winner who came out with the Most Creative Idea making best use of the very limited materials - Ms Natali aka Bunny. And to all who scored well in the quizes. Hah! You really know your scrapbooking stuffs!

All in, we all had a good time, that was what was most important. It was also a good time for meeting new friends, sharing our crafty passion and just spend some "me" time amongst like minded company. We had a go with the beautiful 3D flowers cut out from the Sizzix Big Shot Pro and made beautiful felt flowers with DTs Amelia & Liza. A big Thank you to both Amelia & Liza.

Last but not least to Richard for the balloons & witty-tertainment (y'knw what I mean ";) and a special thank you to the team at Papier for their hard work at planning & preparing for the party. The team worked very hard since Sept to start planning for the event, and each of the invitations given out were carefully handmade up to minute details.

Thank you all for your continuous support, especially to those who have been attending our Annual Members Day Party over the past years. Next year we hope to see you again!

(special note to Annie, thank you for coming even though you weren't well, really appreciate that) and a few others whom I know made the extra effort to be there...

Nov Mini Album Class - Memories By AK

Hi everyone. I had a lot of fun during PCM last saturday. It was great meeting most of you! For Nov we have a line up of classes for everyone. Kindly check with the store for class schedule and timing.

Card Making Class by Liza Yahya

Hello friends..I'm really counting the days to the Mad Hatter Member's Day Party..Don't forget it's this Saturday 29th October. Owhhh how I love meeting fellow crafters - exchanging ideas, sharing latest projects and above all - shopping and making new friends! There's a lot of fun happenings, promotions and of course discounts too...just get ready!

Okay..let's see , I'm happy to share with you 2 cards and a bonus tag project that I'll be teaching in November at Papier. A suggestion..Moms ..you can just drop-off your kids for this class and indulge youself in a shopping spree or spa. Aha..good idea! My kinda drop and shop..miss that!

These cards are made using the latest papers from Lost and Found - Breeze. They are soo heavenly gorgeous and come with Clear Stamps as well ! This card is a bit playful as it showcases some pop-out and flip-up that those curious little fingers would love to discover lol.

Another card using Pink Paislee's - " Daily Junque " . My kids at home literally had a tug of war over this paper !!

A bonus tag - A gentle reminder for those who's been running busy.. you need to " Make Time For A Cuppa.. With Good Friends". Layout and Update on PCM

Happy Monday crafters. I'm here to share another layout using October Afternoon Pattern Papers, White and Kraft Cardstock, Dusty Attic Chipboards, Buttons, Mists and Paper clips. Another boy layout of my husband and son.

I have bits and pieces of pattern paper left and decided to cut the pieces into banners and layer them on top of each other. I use corrugated board behind the photo to create the 3D effects on the layout. I seems to hoard a lot of boxes at home. It work wonders to elevate and add details to a plain page.

A Journal And A Card by Liza Yahya

Hey..hey..as promised.. more from my series of projects using " Printery Collection" papers by Prima Marketing. Here's a journal that I bound. A confession... I am now a certified book binding junkie ! It's addictive and I've been binding books while watching The Voice!

I'm not explaining the lengths of how to bind a book..for those of you that's keen, just head to Papier and enroll in the book binding class okay.

The first step in making this journal is preparing the frame for the cover. I used a corrugated board from my recycling bin, cut to fit the book front, ripped off just the top layers of some parts and apply gesso. Die cut the hardwares using Tim Holtz die, apply gesso. Then distress using a combination of Old Paper and Vintage Photo Ranger's Distress Ink. Cut out the Printery paper slightly bigger than the inner frame and paste on the book cover. Place your frame on it and start to arrange all your favourite embellishments. Walla..!

Another project using the same paper.."A Get Well Soon" card , I love the many possibilities...

October Afternoon Layout By AK

Happy Monday everyone. I have another reveal today. Using October Afternoon pattern papers and Kraft Cardstock for this 8.5 x 11.5 layout. Four layers of papers and die cut the dress form from Tim Holtz dies. I kept the corrugated raw with just a hint of mists in the middle.

The title says 'enjoying her lollipop'. Yes, that's a photo of my daughter having her sugar fix! Anyway i hope you are ready for Papier's up and coming Members Day. Lots of things to look forward too. One thing for sure, we will have fun together! Cant wait to meet most if not all of you.
